about

hello and welcome!

My name is Emily (I go by Emily Autumn in my writing) and I'm the author of this small corner of the blogosphere called A Purpose and A Promise.  The name comes from my belief  that living for Christ is our ultimate purpose in life, because He's the One who gives us our ultimate promise. I am far from doing this perfectly, but am so glad that Jesus never gives up on us as we grow to become more like Him! He's the reason for anything good in me, and I hope that everything on this blog will point you toward Him in one way or another.
I also believe that words + pen + paper = something magical. Words have such power, and it is amazing that what we write can affect people in ways we never thought of! I enjoy writing and I  share some of it on this blog.
Altogether, these things probably explain my love for books, writing poetry at random times, and adventures while growing to be more like my Savior, Jesus Christ.
If you ever have a question about anything you read here, you can contact me through this contact form .Thank you for stopping by- I'm so glad that you're here! ♥

  3. I wrote many books, but didn't even finish one. Well, actually, I did finish one but it needs a lot of work. I can think of characters and settings, but run out of story line too. I think and think about what should happen next, and I try thinking of what would be good to write a story about, but just can't think of anything. I know how you feel. :) I'm homeschooled also...have been my whole life.

    3. Yes, I LOVE the Life of Faith series!! I've read them all, and the original Elsie Dinsmore books as well. I'm blessed to own all of the Life of Faith books except two! And I like all kinds of books, really!

    4. Wow! That's sooo cool. So do you have all of the Violet books and other ones besides Elsie? We are so blessed to own all the Elsie Dinsmore books. We have one Violet book, and another book that has stories about Millie, Elsie, and Violet.
I like many kinds of books too, but I think missionary books are my favorite. Have you ever heard of YWAM publishing? We have a box of missionary books from them that contains about 40. Christian fiction ones are my favorite as well. :)
What are some other good books you've read?

    5. Yes, I have all the LoF books (Millie, Elsie, Violet, Laylie, and Kathleen), except for the last two Violet books. I've read them, but I don't own them. And yes, we actually have the YWAM missionary books too, about 25 of them. :) I may have to do a book recommendations list!

    10. Hi Jaidyn!
Aww, that's too bad! :( Do you mean where you can buy them at? The original publishing company went out of business, so the only place I've ever found them at is Amazon. There's some online book resale places that have them too, like eBay's Half.com or maybe an online book swap site.
I'm sorry they didn't have them at your library, but I hope you can find them somewhere else soon! =)

    11. Hi Emily!
Oh, okay. Maybe I'll be able to buy it on Amazon- I'll have to ask my parents about that! =)

    1. Hey Jaidyn!
Autumn actually isn't my real middle or last name- it's part of the pen name that I chose to go by in my writing and here on my blog. I love the name Autumn, so I wanted to incorporate it in there somewhere. :) I hope that makes sense! I don't want to confuse anyone. ;)
I think your name is beautiful, and it goes together perfectly!
