10 Nonfiction Books Every Christian Teen Girl Should Read

I love reading. It's a fact, and anyone who knows me well knows that one of my favorite things is new books to read! :) A close second, however, would be finding someone who has a list of good books to recommend. Since I can't share my own favorites book list with you in person, I thought the next-best thing would be to share it with you on here. Below, I've listed my top 10 favorite nonfiction books for teen girls. The links go to Goodreads, where you can find my review of the book on the page if there is one. Enjoy! =)

♥ This is probably my #1 favorite nonfiction book ever! EVERY teenage girl should read this book, and I promise- it will totally change the way you look at God, guys, and your relationships with both.

♥ This one is great for younger girls (I'd say ages 11 and up) to read. So many books on romance and purity are a bit too much for tween girls, in my opinion, but this one fits the bill perfectly, as well as being great for older girls as well. It's filled with biblical wisdom about relationships, dating, and waiting for the Lord's timing.

♥ This books has a ton of great quotes in it, and a lot of things to get you thinking about how to become a girl more like God- a God Girl!

♥ This book is amazing!! I hate to spoil it by giving away details, but just know that if you haven't read it, you need to. Get ready to be challenged and inspired!

♥ This book's title is based off of the original book Lies Women Believe, and is adapted for teenage girls. Full of truth, I can assure you that there's something in here for every girl to learn from!

♥ The first book I read by Elisabeth Elliot.... so good! Both girls and guys could benefit from reading this book, which is the story of Jim and Elisabeth Elliot's relationship- with each other, and the Lord.

♥ Can you tell that Dannah Gresh is one of my favorite authors by now? xD This is a really small book, only about 5 chapters, but it's one you won't want to miss! It explains the truths behind modesty in an amazing way, and there's some really great fashion tips in there too. ;)

♥ This is the only book by Leslie Ludy I've read so far, but it was amazing. Definitely recommend for teenage girls seeking to know the real truth about beauty!

♥ A wonderful book about the meaning of biblical womanhood, written in the easy-to-read form of short  "letters" from the author to her daughter. A must-read in this age of radical feminism!

♥ This book contains the stories of 8 modern women who are serving God in countries where people are hostile to Christians. It is extremely impacting! You can get a copy for free by clicking here and filling out your mailing info. It's legit, I promise! That's how I received my copy. :)

++++++++++

How many of these have you read? What's your 3 favorite nonfiction books for teen girls? Please share below!

  2. Oooh, I love this list!! Don't you just get excited whenever you find another best christian books list? ;) I can agree with many of them...'specially Get Lost and Passion and Purity. Those books are just SO good. For my favorite non-fiction book...well...I won't try and pick, but just share a few. I really enjoyed "Journeys of Faithfulness" by Sarah Clarkson. That was a really good one re-telling Bible stories in a very fresh new way! I also loved the two I just mentioned plus any by Leslie Ludy. Beautiful Girlhood I also remember was very good and I'm going to re-read it soon. Anyway, I'm guessing you've seen some of my lists on Goodreads so I'll stop there. =)

  3. Thanks for sharing your favourites! I've only read three of them actually, so perhaps I should rectify that! ;) I'm not sure what my favourite books for teen girls would be - I don't read a lot of books specifically for teen girls. One I did find very beneficial though, is It's (Not That) Complicated. Have you read that?

Ahh... "It's Not That Complicated" has been on my to-read list for a long time- I just haven't been able to find it anywhere! I'm going to have to just break down and buy it from Amazon, I guess. :D I've heard it's a really good book!

  6. Hi Emily,
Thank you for sharing your favorite book list. I really, really, really want to read Get Lost and Authentic Beauty now! I really like the little book you sent me about modesty by Hannah Gresh. :)
Have you read Tortured for Christ? You could get it free from Voice of Martyrs. It is really good.

    1. Thanks for reading, Ashley! I hope you get the chance to read those two books- they are really amazing. :)
Yes, I have! That one is a really impactful book as well. For this list, I included books that were geared mainly for young women, but I'm working on another list and I'll have to add that one to it.

      Thanks for the comment!

  7. Something must be wrong if I've only read one of your 10 favorite books. ;) I read Kisses From Katie a loooong time ago. But I do have Authentic Beauty sitting on my shelf waiting for me to open it as well. =) Several non-fiction books that I might add include Do Hard Things and One Thing You Can't Do in Heaven...those both were challenging. I know there are others (Elizabeth George has written some that are very good as well), but those two are the first that comes to mind. Isn't it wonderful that God can use books to change our lives for Him? =) And that last book on your list is free!! So exciting. ;) Thanks for sharing!

Thanks for the comment, Hosanna! ♥

  9. This is a good list Emily! I read many of these when I was a teen and would contend that several would be could for an adult woman to read as well!
My list for teen girls would be similar to this though I would add "Do Hard Things" by the Harris twins, "Set-Apart Femininity" by Leslie Ludy, and "His Chosen Bride" by Jennifer Lamp Neef (nee Jennifer J. Lamp).

    1. Thanks! I agree- many of these would be beneficial for women as well. :)
Thanks for your suggestions! "Do Hard Things" is an amazing book- since it wasn't specifically for girls, it didn't make this list, but it's certainly going on the next one! I've been wanting to read "Set Apart Femininity" for a while, and I'll have to check out that last book soon as well.

Thanks for your comment, and for the follow! <3
